Statement - News & Views
Dear Residents,
The News & Views publication has been in circulation in the village for around 45 years and has been a valued and cherished part of our community. It came under the Parish Council in 2006 and whilst mostly funded by us, has been designed, edited and delivered by a team of hard-working volunteers ever since.
Over the past year, we have been involved in extensive talks to modernise, improve and update our existing agreements. Some of these improvements are a requirement, in order that the Parish Council satisfies our financial controls and government legislation.
We are pleased to announce that the News & Views have told us they will be establishing a formal not-for-profit entity that will enable it to stand independent of local governance moving forward. This means it will be independent from the Parish Council and the News & Views organisation will be able to better define it's own vision and purpose within the community.
This is a new chapter in the story of News & Views, that we hope will see it continue to deliver for the community and innovate it's media for future generations. The Parish Council does not intend on ending it's support with News & Views, instead assisting them to achieve their goals through a renewed and different arrangement.
We hope the significant financial support Councillors voted to approve in our October 2024 meeting will give the News & Views team some much needed breathing room to transition in an orderly fashion throughout 2025.
If you have any questions, please contact the Clerk of the Parish Council on: clerk@silverstone-village.co.uk

Warm Regards,
